The phrase ‘new beginnings’ can be a scary one, or it can be very liberating.

It’s something like opening a fresh new notebook. You look at its perfectly untouched blank pages and feel the anxiety of having to decide what should fill them. Perhaps you just dive in carelessly and go for it, or maybe you’re tentative and thoughtful about how you begin.

I find it’s a lot easier to see a new beginning as not just a completely blank canvas – unless you really want to start from scratch – but to think of it as a continuation of what’s come before. I’d rather build on and keep on growing from what’s behind me than face the daunting concept of starting from the very beginning.

Me writing these words here is a sort of new beginning. I’ve typed my thoughts online before, but now I’m a little older, maybe even wiser, and I want to take writing more seriously. So here I am putting my written consciousness on a swanky site I’ve built for myself. A curated journal of sorts.

I can’t promise all my words are gems, but I can say that if they’ve made it on here then it’s for a reason, and whatever I write here will have meant something to me at the time. I just hope you can get some enjoyment from it.
